John Williams honorably served in the United States Army for 26 years, retiring in November 1990 with the distinguished rank of Command Master Sergeant (E9).
After his military career, John continued to lead and serve in a variety of roles, including positions with the Better Business Bureau in Augusta, Georgia, the Non-Commissioned Officers Association Service Center in Augusta, and as a counselor and insurance agent. He also worked as a sales consultant for Photo Specialist, Inc. in Atlanta; a credit and store manager for Heilig-Myers Furniture in Hinesville; and a store manager for Lawson’s New World Furniture in Statesboro.
In 2003, John returned home to Chester and became the Director of The Turning Point of Chester, where he faithfully served until July of 2025.
Over the past two decades, John has poured his heart into this community—offering guidance, compassion, and hope to hundreds of men facing addiction and housing insecurity. His care extended beyond recovery, reaching into the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those he served.
John’s impact has reached far beyond the walls of Turning Point. His fingerprints can be seen across Chester County—among families facing food insecurity, in the lives of men restored to wholeness, and in the hearts of those who found encouragement through his words and actions.
Over the years, John has worn many hats: director, mentor, counselor, teacher, pastor, advocate, encourager, problem-solver, and friend.
Whether leading with wisdom, listening with patience, or lending a helping hand, he has faithfully met people where they are with compassion and grace.
John is a proud husband, father of five, grandfather to fourteen, and great-grandfather to seventeen.
