Food Services
Since 1990, The Turning Point of Chester’s food services have helped feed thousands of families and distributed hundreds of thousands of pounds of food throughout our community.
In recent years, changes in the economy and the rising cost of food have caused more families to seek assistance. Each month, The Turning Point of Chester provides food assistance to approximately 500 families—an impact equal to nearly 1 out of every 26 households in Chester County. This represents approximately 6,000 family food distributions each year.
We are grateful for the generous community partners and supporters who help make this work possible, including Walmart, Food Lion, the Columbia Food Bank, and the Fort Lawn Community Center.
Our Food Pantry is operated by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly and selflessly to serve our community. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our devoted volunteers. We are deeply grateful for their service, kindness, and commitment. Their presence will be greatly missed, but their impact on our community will always be remembered.

In Loving Memory of Craig Yeomen
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our longtime Turning Point volunteer and friend, Craig Yeomen.
Craig was dedicated to serving others and faithfully gave his time to the Turning Point Food Pantry. Every Monday, he was here sorting and distributing food to people in our community. Every Tuesday, he drove the pantry box truck to Columbia to pick up food from the food bank.
Craig had a true servant’s heart. He worked hard, worked well with everyone, and always brought a good sense of humor to the work. He was simply fun to be around. More than a volunteer, Craig was a friend to us all.
We are grateful for the countless hours he gave, the people he served, and the difference he made through his willingness to simply show up and serve.
A celebration of life will be held at Chester State Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you bring a donation for the food pantry. The Turning Point van will be on-site at the park so attendees can place food donations directly into the van.
Craig will be greatly missed by all of us at The Turning Point. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
